เมื่อเร็ว ๆ นี้ เครือเจริญโภคภัณฑ์ได้เข้าร่วมการประชุมเรื่องการค้าทาสสมัยใหม่ ซึ่งเป็นการประชุมที่จัดขึ้นครั้งแรกในประเทศไทยโดย สำนักอัยการสูงสุด โครงการอาเซียน-ออสเตรเลียเพื่อต่อต้านการค้ามนุษย์ สถานเอกอัครราชทูตออสเตรเลีย มูลนิธิ IJM และ มูลนิธิ A21 ในฐานะองค์กรร่วมจัดการประชุมนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสะท้อนถึงความต้องการการจ้างแรงงานข้ามชาติของประเทศไทยที่เพิ่มสูงขึ้นและข้อท้าทายเชิงจริยธรรมของภาคธุรกิจในการสร้างความโปร่งใสตลอดห่วงโซ่อุปทานในการประชุมนี้มีกิจกรรมการอภิปรายอย่างรอบด้านซึ่งแสดงให้เห็นถึงความพยายามร่วมกันจากภาคส่วนต่างๆเพื่อจัดการกับปัญหาการค้าทาสสมัยใหม่ที่เน้นให้ความสำคัญกับความร่วมมือและการแลกเปลี่ยนแนวทางแก้ไขปัญหาร่วมกัน
ดร.เนติธร ประดิษฐ์สาร ผู้ช่วยบริหารประธานคณะผู้บริหารและรองกรรมการผู้จัดการอาวุโส สำนักความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศและสื่อสารองค์กร เครือเจริญโภคภัณฑ์ ได้เข้าร่วมเวทีเสวนาในหัวข้อ “ห่วงโซ่อุปทานที่มีจริยธรรม รับผิดชอบ และโปร่งใส:บทบาทของภาคเอกชนในการต่อสู้กับปัญหาการค้าทาสสมัยใหม่”
ร่วมด้วย คุณนรีลักษณ์ แพไชยภูมิ จากกรมคุ้มครองสิทธิและเสรีภาพ กระทรวงยุติธรรม ดร.เนติธรฯ ได้กล่าวถึงความมุ่งมั่นและการดำเนินงานของเครือเจริญโภคภัณฑ์ในการป้องกันปัญหาการค้าทาสสมัยใหม่ภายในห่วงโซ่คุณค่าของธุรกิจ โดยเฉพาะในประเด็นที่เกี่ยวกับแรงงานข้ามชาติ ซึ่งรวมถึงนโยบายการจ้างงานแรงงานข้ามชาติและโครงการจรรยาบรรณในการจัดหา และการจ้างแรงงานข้ามชาติและด้วยความซับซ้อนของห่วงโซ่อุปทานของเครือฯจึงเป็นเรื่องที่สำคัญอย่างยิ่งที่จะต้องมีการดำเนินการตรวจสอบสถานะด้านสิทธิมนุษยชนรอบด้านทั่วทั้งองค์กรรวมถึงการขยายการดำเนินการดังกล่าวไปยังคู่ค้าต่างๆ ของเครือฯ อีกด้วย
Charoen Pokphand Group Champions Ethical Recruitment Practices at Thailand’s Inaugural Modern Slavery Conference
1 March 2024 – Charoen Pokphand Group participated in Thailand’s inaugural conference on modern slavery, which was co-hosted by the Office of the Attorney General, ASEAN-ACT, the Australian Embassy, IJM Foundation, and A21 Foundation. The event shed light on Thailand’s growing demands for migrant labour and the ethical challenges this poses for businesses in maintaining transparent supply chains. Extensive discussions at this conference showcased the collaborative efforts from various sectors in order to combat modern slavery, emphasising the need for cooperation and shared solutions.
Dr. Netithorn Praditsarn, Executive Assistant to Group CEO and Senior Vice President at the Global Partnership for Sustainability and Communications of Charoen Pokphand Group, spoke on the panel on “Ethical, Responsible, and Transparent Supply Chains: the role of the private sector in combating modern slavery” alongside Ms. Nareeluc Pairchaiyapoom of the Rights and Liberties Protection Department of the Ministry of Justice. Dr. Praditsarn highlighted the Group’s dedication and initiatives to prevent modern slavery within their value chain, particularly concerning migrant workers. This includes the Group’s ethical migrant worker recruitment policy and the Ethical Recruitment Program. Given the complexities of the Group’s extensive supply chain, it is crucially important to ensure that human rights due diligence is embedded throughout all levels of the organization and extended to suppliers.
