29 พฤษภาคม 2566 เครือเจริญโภคภัณฑ์ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของเครือข่ายโกลบอลคอมแพ็กประเทศไทย (GCNT) เป็นเจ้าภาพงานสัปดาห์ธุรกิจและสิทธิมนุษยชน (BBHR Week) ในปีนี้ ร่วมกับสำนักงานโครงการพัฒนาแห่งสหประชาชาติ (UNDP) กรมคุ้มครองสิทธิและเสรีภาพของ กระทรวงยุติธรรม สภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย องค์การเพื่อความร่วมมือและการพัฒนาทางเศรษฐกิจ (OECD) และคณะกรรมการระหว่างรัฐบาลอาเซียนว่าด้วยสิทธิมนุษยชน (AICHR) โดยงาน BBHR จัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 29 พฤษภาคมถึง 2 มิถุนายน ซึ่งได้รวบรวมผู้มีส่วนได้ส่วนเสียจากภาคประชาสังคม ภาคเอกชน และภาครัฐเข้าด้วยกันเพื่อหารือเกี่ยวกับความท้าทายและโอกาสในการแก้ไขปัญหาสิทธิมนุษยชนในภูมิภาค
ดร.เนติธร ประดิษฐสาร ผู้ช่วยบริหาร ประธานคณะผู้บริหาร รองกรรมการผู้จัดการอาวุโส สำนักความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศด้านความยั่งยืนและการสื่อสาร เครือเจริญโภคภัณฑ์ และรองเลขาธิการเครือข่ายโกลบอลคอมแพ็กประเทศไทย (GCNT) ร่วมกล่าวเปิดงานสัมมนาเมื่อวันที่ 29 พฤษภาคม ในหัวข้อ “ธุรกิจกับสิทธิมนุษยชน: ผลกระทบของสิ่งแวดล้อมและการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ” ดร.เนติธร ได้กล่าวถึงความเชื่อมโยงของประเด็นสิ่งแวดล้อมและสิทธิมนุษยชน โดยเน้นย้ำมติของสมัชชาใหญ่แห่งสหประชาชาติที่ประกาศถึงสิทธิของมนุษย์ทุกคนในการมีชีวิตอยู่ในสิ่งแวดล้อมที่ดี นอกจากนี้ ดร.เนติธรยังเสนอแนวทางขับเคลื่อนความก้าวหน้าใน 2 ประเด็นนี้ โดยเริ่มจากการให้ความสำคัญต่อความโปร่งใสผ่านการจัดทำรายงาน เรียกร้องให้ภาคธุรกิจทั้งในไทยและในภูมิภาคเผยแพร่รายงานสิทธิมนุษยชนประจำปี นอกจากนี้ยังกำชับถึงบทบาทของ GCNT ในการกำหนดมาตรฐานด้านสิทธิมนุษยชนและสิ่งแวดล้อมในประเทศไทยผ่าน Business and Human Rights Academy ที่มีการจัดบทเรียนเกี่ยวกับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสภาพภูมิอากาศกับสิทธิมนุษยชน เพื่อช่วยให้ภาคธุรกิจ เข้าใจความสำคัญและความเชื่อมโยงของทั้ง 2 ประเด็นนี้ได้ดียิ่งขึ้น

C.P. Group emphasizes the importance and impact of Climate Change and Human Rights in Bangkok Business and Human Rights Week
May 29th, 2023 Charoen Pokphand Group, as part of the Global Compact Network Thailand (GCNT), is hosting this year’s Bangkok Business and Human Rights Week (BBHR Week), together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Federal of Thai Industries, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection of the Ministry of Justice, and the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR). Taking place from May 29th to June 2nd, the BBHR Week brings together stakeholders from civil society, the private sector, and the public sector together to discuss the challenges and opportunities in addressing human rights issues in the region.
Dr. Netithorn Praditsarn, Executive Assistant to Group CEO and Senior Vice President, Global Partnership for Sustainability and Communications, and Deputy Secretary General of the Global Compact Network Thailand took part in the seminar on May 29th on the subject of “Business and Human Rights: The Impact of the Environment and Climate Change.” To open the seminar, Dr. Netithorn spoke about the intertwined nature of the environment and human rights, emphasizing the United Nations’ General Assembly resolution declaring that all humans have the right to live in a healthy environment. Going further, Dr. Netithorn also suggested ways to drive progress in these two issues, beginning with the importance of transparency through reporting, as he urged all companies to publish an annual human rights report. He also affirmed GCNT’s role in establishing a standard for both human rights and the environment in Thailand. The GCNT’s own Business and Human Rights Academy contains modules specific to the relationship between climate change and human rights, to help businesses better understand the linkages between them, he said.
